Meet Miss Belle

Hey Everyone!
We would like you all to meet the newest member of our herd! Miss Belle is always the first one to greet us at the milking barn and is a sweet new Jersey A2/A2 girl.

It was a great weekend at Diamond S, as we had a few guests (Cassandra and Kirstie) came to visit and help in the shop! Together we created two batches of cottage cheese.  Cassandra and Kirstie each worked on a batch, and did a wonderful job. 

After all the hard work in the barn we had a delicious meal to end the day. We were able to use some of that freshly made cottage cheese combined with peppers, cucumbers and a splash of balsamic vinegar to make a delicious salad! We also had pork picnic roast, tossed salad and a choice of sweet or red russet potatoes. Oh, and we shouldn't forget the watermelon for dessert.  After supper the girls took the two kinds of fresh pressed cheese out of the press and refrigerated so they can be packaged. That cheese is ready today! Take a look at all of the  great pics the girls took throughout the day. 

Cassandra and her sis are originally from Michigan but are currently residing in Cody.  Cassandra lived in Hyattville for a couple months in 2016, so many of you met her as she helped in the Dairy for month. She did many things including painting, organizing and getting the store ready to open. During that time she also learned how to milk and make a variety of cheeses. The girls needed a little retreat and chose to come back for the weekend.  We filled their day with plenty of cheese making and lots of smiles. Thanks so much for stopping by, girls!
