![]() Hi Friends! Hope everyone is having a good week! For this week’s post, we have a quick update from the dairy and a peek into the process of getting our wonderful, fresh dairy to you all. Hope you enjoy! News from the Dairy We are pausing milk orders/deliveries until early March. We are in the process of drying up the girls so they have a bit of a break before they begin calving. Yogurt and kefir orders will still be filled for those that pre-ordered and those will only be available for dairy pick up as we are pausing deliveries on those orders. We will reach out and let folks know once we start filling milk orders again. From Grass to Glass: The Journey of Raw Milk Have you ever wondered about the journey raw milk takes before it reaches your table? From lush pastures to your glass, raw milk carries a story of nature, care, and craftsmanship. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at each step of the process, celebrating the simplicity and purity that makes raw milk so special. 1. Happy Pastures, Happy Cows It all begins in the fields, where our cows roam freely, grazing on fresh, nutrient-rich grass and during the winter, they get alfalfa-rich hay. Throughout the year, the girls get to enjoy wet, brewer’s grains from local breweries while they are milked. This feed provides a great boost of protein which contributes to the girls’ overall health and nutritional density of the milk. It also aids breweries as it reduces waste that would otherwise go to landfills. The quality of raw milk starts here, as the health and happiness of the cows directly influence its taste and nutritional value. By focusing on pasture grazing and supplementing with grains, we ensure our cows stay content. 2. Milking Time: Gentle and Clean Every morning we head to the barn for milking. We milk the ladies one at a time, allowing for a quiet and individual milking experience, another way that we improve their quality of life and, thus, improving the quality of the milk. Using these gentle milking techniques, we prioritize the comfort of our cows while maintaining the highest hygiene standards. Each batch of milk is handled with care to preserve its natural enzymes, probiotics, and full-bodied flavor. 3. Freshness Matters: Quick Cooling and Storage Immediately after milking, the raw milk is filtered and rapidly cooled to maintain its freshness. This step is crucial for locking in the milk’s natural goodness and ensuring it’s ready for distribution. Unlike pasteurized milk, raw milk retains its wholesome qualities, offering a truly unprocessed experience. 4. Packaging with Care Once the milk is ready, it’s packaged in eco-friendly glass bottles to preserve its flavor and reduce waste. Our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at the farm – it extends to every aspect of our operation, including how we deliver milk to your home. 5. Straight to Your Table Finally, the raw milk makes its way to you, whether through our delivery service or pickup at the dairy. With every sip, you’re tasting the result of careful stewardship, from the grass the cows grazed on to the dedication we have to being local and sustainable, who make it all possible. The journey of raw milk from grass to glass is a labor of love, rooted in tradition and fueled by a passion for purity. We’re honored to be part of your family’s table and look forward to continuing to provide you with the freshest, most natural dairy products around. Have any questions about our process? Drop them in the comments below – we’d love to hear from you!

I appreciate this info. so much. I rarely follow blogs as it takes time. I listen to alot, because I can do that while working, but stopping to read doesn't happen often. Unless it's instructions. Lol!! This was very informative, simple and lighthearted. Thank you!! You truly are a blessing and I'm so grateful that our household can get kefer and yogurt that we always ordered. I really miss the milk but I certainly understand giving the girls a rest. Supernatural blessings to all that are working while Kris and Gene get much needed rest. 🙏🫂❤️
